Design System Lead

One of Nordic Investin’s partner companies is looking for a Design System Lead, with Nordic Investin leading the recruitment process. You want a design system to accelerate good decisions, not become a library everyone admires and nobody can adopt.

The partner is consolidating fragmented interface patterns across several products. You will lead the design system as a shared product, aligning design and engineering on components, accessibility, contribution and a roadmap grounded in real team needs.

Design is embedded in product and service decisions rather than added after scope is fixed. The team expects evidence, accessibility and implementation constraints to be considered from the beginning and revisited after release.

You will join a multidisciplinary team and move between discovery, design, delivery and learning after launch. The partner expects assumptions to be made visible, prototypes to answer real questions and design decisions to remain understandable when they reach engineering and operations.

This is a leadership role with responsibility for direction, governance and the capability of others. You will create enough structure for teams to move independently while stepping into detail when risk or ambiguity demands it. The partner wants visible ownership without unnecessary hierarchy.

• Set the design system vision, principles and roadmap.

• Prioritise components using product demand and reuse potential.

• Extensive product design or design system experience.

• Professional English and persuasive facilitation skills.

• Design tokens and multi brand systems.

• Storybook or comparable component documentation.

• People or programme leadership.

You may be a senior product designer, UX engineer or design systems specialist who has already led cross product standardisation. The partner needs someone who can balance coherence with local needs and treat adoption as a product problem.

This is a chance to improve the work of many teams at once. You will shape a foundation that makes products more consistent, delivery more efficient and accessibility easier to achieve by default.

The exact partner, employment model, compensation, start date and working arrangement will be explained openly during the process. Nordic Investin will make sure you understand the context, expectations and decision path before you are asked to commit significant time.

During the process, Nordic Investin will focus on concrete decisions you have made: the context you received, the alternatives you considered, the result you observed and what you would change today. You do not need every optional credential if your core experience transfers and you can explain how you would close the gap.
