The Senior Principal Scientist in Chromatography is responsible for scientific leadership in downstream purification. We are looking for a candidate with a strong application expertise in mAbs, Ab variants and other recombinant proteins, including process development expertise and biopharmaceutical manufacturing process understanding, with a deep understanding of chromatography fundamentals.

This position reports to the Director for the Start to Finish Department in RnD, which is part of the Resins & Technologies Business Unit located in Uppsala, Sweden and will be an on-site role. The Start to Finish team focuses on application for customers complete end to end processes and thought leadership.

What you will do:

• Support the organization as a chromatography Subject matter expert in Market Support and NPD projects.
• Actively work to identify and promote new business opportunities for Cytiva cross-functionally including but not limited to mAb (monoclonal antibody) and Ab (antibody) variants applications
• Drive innovation and strategy within the area of expertise.
• To take on responsibility as Project Manager for Research projects/Seed & Select activities if required
• Act as scientific/technology mentor for R&D personnel, not limited to the department.
• External visibility by presentations at external conferences and/or by publishing papers in scientific journals
• Actively contribute with product and customer expertise across the BioProcess organization
• Build and maintain an external network including biopharmaceutical companies, and initiate and lead external collaborations with customers and technology providers
• Build and maintain good knowledge of competitors and competing products/technologies

Who you are:

• PhD or equivalent experience
• At least 10 year experience of industrial development/R&D or scientific recognition
• At least 5 year experience as a Senior Scientist or equal
• High level external profile representing Bioprocess
• Proven record of scientific publications and/or IP
• Expertise in chromatography and protein purification with a deep understanding of chromatography fundamentals
• Strong communication skills
• Strong coaching and mentoring skills
• Executive presence, ability to communicate in a senior way with upper management
• Excellent English communication skills: Swedish is a plus
