API and Integration Engineer

One of Nordic Investin’s partner companies is looking for an API and Integration Engineer, with Nordic Investin leading the recruitment process. You like making systems cooperate cleanly, especially when their data models and release cycles were never designed to match.

The partner needs an engineer who can connect cloud services, enterprise applications and external APIs without creating a fragile web of point to point dependencies. You will build integrations that are observable, secure and easy to change.

The environment will suit someone who enjoys building systems, testing assumptions in code and taking responsibility for production behaviour. Technical choices are expected to be explained in terms of maintainability, reliability and the people who use the product.

You will work in short delivery cycles with direct access to product, domain and operational colleagues. The partner expects engineers to review designs, test assumptions early and follow important changes into production. Decisions should be recorded clearly enough that another engineer can understand the tradeoff months later.

You will receive meaningful ownership while working with senior colleagues on the most consequential decisions. The partner expects you to deliver independently within a clear area, ask for context early and contribute ideas grounded in what you observe. There is room to deepen your specialism or broaden toward adjacent responsibilities.

• Design REST and event based integration flows.

• Implement APIs, adapters and transformation logic.

• Define contracts, validation and error handling with consuming teams.

• Secure integrations using modern identity and secret management.

• Build automated integration tests and deployment pipelines.

• Monitor flows and improve recovery from partial failure.

• Commercial integration or backend development experience.

• Good API design and asynchronous messaging knowledge.

• Experience in Java, NET, Python or TypeScript.

• Working knowledge of SQL, JSON and common authentication protocols.

• Ability to investigate issues across several systems.

• Professional English and structured stakeholder communication.

• API management platforms or integration platform as a service.

• EDI, ERP or supply chain integrations.

• Event streaming and schema governance.

You may come from an integration consultancy, product team or enterprise application environment. We are open to different languages and platforms if you understand contracts, dependencies and the operational reality of data moving between systems.

This role offers broad technical exposure and a clear path toward senior integration engineering or architecture. The partner values people who reduce complexity and make cross system behaviour easier to understand.

During the process, Nordic Investin will focus on concrete decisions you have made: the context you received, the alternatives you considered, the result you observed and what you would change today. You do not need every optional technology if your core experience transfers and you can explain how you would close the gap.
