Are you interested in working with communication, outreach and events related to development research? We are looking to hire a student assistant (amanuens) to work with the secretariat of the Swedish Development Research Network (SweDev).
The position
SweDev was founded in 2019 and is a network that connects development researchers across Sweden in order to strengthen collaboration within the research community and to increase interaction between development researchers and practitioners.
Duties for a student assistant can include teaching, administration or participation in research or artistic research. The duties for this position will focus on assisting the SweDev secretariat by maintaining the website, communicating within and outside the network, co-organising and disseminating information about events, monitoring relevant activities and new research findings, and participating in the regular meetings of SweDev's executive committee and steering group.
The person we need
For employment as an amanuens, you must be admitted to higher education at undergraduate or advanced (master's) level.
The person we need is a strong communicator who works independently, is well organised, collaborates well and has an interest in working with digital communication.
The following education, experience and expertise are required:
- experience in development studies, environmental science or political science (Bachelor's degree or ongoing master's studies)
- knowledge of Swedish development cooperation and development-related research
- proficiency in English, spoken and written.
In addition, the following education, experience and expertise will strengthen an application:
- experience of managing social media and/or a website for an organization, or similar experience
- earlier experience of working in the development sector, in Sweden or abroad
- interest in development research and SweDev's work.
The workplace
From the autumn of 2026, SweDev's secretariat will be hosted at https://liu.se/en/organisation/liu/tema – Environmental Change and the Centre for Climate Science and Policy Research (CSPR) at Linköping University.

The employment
The employment is a fixed-term position with a scope of 20 per cent of full-time for up to one year, with possible extension. Starting date as agreed.
An employment as an amanuens is regulated in Chapter 5 of the Higher Education Ordinance.
