Software Engineer Industrial Automation & Machine Control
to Ursviken Technology in Västerås
Ursviken Technology is expanding! We are establishing a new engineering office in Västerås and looking for a talented Software Engineer to join our growing international engineering team.
Are you passionate about software development, advanced automation, and intelligent industrial machines? Would you like to help shape the future of industrial technology while being part of something new?
This is an opportunity to work with advanced industrial machinery, develop machine control software, and contribute to the establishment of a new engineering office.
About Ursviken Technology
Ursviken Technology develops advanced CNC-controlled machinery for the sheet metal processing industry, including press brakes, shears, and automated manufacturing systems. With more than 140 years of industrial engineering experience, we are known for technical excellence, innovation, and customized machine solutions.
We are part of Vaski Group, a growing Finnish industrial technology group, and are investing in our engineering capabilities and future product development.
About the Role
As a Software Engineer specializing in Industrial Automation and Machine Control, you will develop and improve the software that powers our machines. You will work with both new machine development and existing products, contributing throughout the development process, from software design and programming to testing and commissioning.
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Developing and maintaining PLC and machine control software.
- Working with motion control, servo axes, hydraulics, and CNC-related functionality.
- Integrating robotic systems and external automation equipment.
- Testing, troubleshooting, and improving software solutions.
- Collaborating with colleagues in software, automation, electrical engineering, and mechanical design.
- Contributing to the development of common software platforms, reusable components, and engineering standards.
You will work with PLC programming in B&R Automation Studio, primarily using Structured Text (ST). The role may also involve C/C++ development for more advanced functions and integrations.
Technology Development and New Opportunities
We are strengthening our in-house software development capabilities and investing in our own machine control technologies. This creates exciting opportunities to contribute to new software architectures, shared platforms, and improved development methods.
You will also have the opportunity to help establish our new engineering office in Västerås, influence technical decisions, and collaborate with experienced engineers at our headquarters in Ursviken and across Vaski Group.
Who Are We Looking For?
We are looking for an engineer with a strong technical foundation and a genuine interest in programming, automation, and industrial machinery.
We believe you have:
- A degree in automation, electrical engineering, mechatronics, software engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience in PLC programming or industrial control software development.
- An understanding of industrial automation and machine control.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
- Good communication skills and fluency in English. Knowledge of Swedish is an advantage.
Experience with B&R Automation Studio, Siemens TIA Portal, Structured Text, C/C++, motion control, CNC technology, or industrial robot integration is an advantage. Most importantly, you are curious, take initiative, and enjoy developing reliable and maintainable software.
What We Offer
At Ursviken Technology, you will work with advanced industrial machinery and challenging engineering projects in an international environment. You will have the opportunity to influence our products, contribute to exciting technology development, and grow professionally as our organization expands.
You will join an established company with a long engineering history while helping build a new team and shape the future of our machine control systems.
If you enjoy combining software engineering with real-world machines and want to see your code bring powerful industrial equipment to life, this could be the perfect opportunity for you. Welcome to the team!
