School Director

Reports to: SIS Board of Trustees

The Director has overall responsibility for the leadership, strategy and operational management of SIS. The role requires a leader who can balance educational excellence with financial discipline, while strengthening community cohesion and advancing the school’s position in the market. The successful candidate will also understand the growing importance of digital strategy and AI, and their implications for the future of international education.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out the current approved strategic plan by partnering with all relevant stakeholders
• Lead and unify the community across both campuses following a period of transition
• Ensure financial sustainability, including disciplined cost management
• Drive enrolment growth to optimise capacity
• Strengthen academic excellence and IB programme outcomes
• Strengthen the school’s visibility and positioning in Stockholm and internationally
• Leverage both campus locations to strengthen the student experience and school community

Leadership Responsibilities

• Set and execute a clear strategic vision in partnership with the Board
• Serve as the school’s educational and pedagogical leader
• Build a strong, collaborative, and high-performing faculty culture
• Ensure effective organisational structure, accountability, and delegation
• Oversee financial planning, budgeting, and operational performance
• Act as a key ambassador, strengthening relationships with diplomatic, corporate, and public stakeholders

Educational Leadership

• Proven senior leadership experience in an IB and/or international school
• Deep commitment to academic excellence, student-centred learning and community wellbeing

Strategic and Operational Capability

• Visionary and strategic leader, with the ability to structure teams, delegate effectively and drive operational efficiencies
• Demonstrated financial and organisational acumen, including budgeting, cost control and strategic development

• Experience engaging with international stakeholders, including embassies and corporate partners
• Ability to strengthen school reputation and support enrolment growth

• Understanding of regulatory environments, accreditation frameworks and collaborative working cultures
• Ability to work effectively with a Board and key stakeholder groups, including the parent community

At Stockholm International School we are committed to protecting children. Aligned with the recommendations of the International Task Force on Child Protection, we hold ourselves to a high standard of effective recruiting practices with specific attention to child protection. Included in the recruitment process will be a local and national police check as well as a mandatory police background check from the last 10 years of employment in every country worked. A judicial background check will be conducted prior to the issuance of the contract for prospective candidates applying to work at our school.

Contract details:

Permanent Contract (A six-month probationary period)

Employment rate: 100%

Start date: Summer 2027

Individually negotiated.
