Om jobbet

Are you passionate about complex product design, CFD, and programming? Do you want to design propulsion systems for the world’s most advanced commercial and naval ships? Join us for an exciting role in the marine industry where you can put your skills to the test and make a real impact!

We are seeking a driven Hydrodynamicist / Propeller Blade Designer, to join our experienced Propulsion Hydrodynamics team. This is a unique opportunity to work with our Hydrodynamic Research Centre in an environment where there are no given answers or solutions, where your creativity and problem-solving ability are put to test. Our collaboration with the research community ensures that we are at the forefront of technical development.

As a Hydrodynamicist / Propeller Blade Designer, you will closely collaborate with shipyards, ship designers and ship owners to transform their requirements into efficient and sustainable solutions. Using CFD and model testing, you develop and adapt propeller and rudder designs to meet specific customer needs. Our unique testing facility with cavitation tunnels allows us to deliver cutting-edge solutions tailored to each vessel and according to expectations.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to deliver and lead high-quality hydrodynamic research projects on time and to budget. You ensure the quality of your work is exemplary and actively work to continuously improve the group’s methods and processes.

What we can offer

We offer an inspiring and safe work environment where you can tackle exciting, sustainable solutions for the future. You’ll face diverse challenges, make a real impact, and grow both technically and personally. Work with unique products at a world-leading maritime supplier and collaborate internationally. We can offer flexible hours with remote work possibilities based on your work tasks. Some traveling globally may be involved visiting our internal and external customers.

Qualifications and experience

We believe that you have a genuine interest in engineering and the marine environment. You hold a Master’s degree in Mathematics, Engineering Physics, Naval Architecture or equivalent. Previous maritime industry experience is advantageous. Due to the nature of our international customer and supplier base, a high level of English, both written and spoken, is essential. Communication skills in other languages are considered an advantage.

We appreciate your ability to act on own initiative and make things happen with a methodical and systematic approach. You should be able to analyze complex issues and deep dive into technical problem solving without losing focus on delivery. Teamwork is key to succeed in this position, we therefore highly appreciate your ability to co-operate well with others, share knowledge, experience, information and support others in the pursuit of team goals.

Kongsberg works with customers from both the commercial and naval market segments. In this role, you will work with classified materials, security clearance and export control are both required for this position. Questions related to citizenship will be part of the selection process.
