Our team takes end-to-end responsibility for PCB design and quality assurance, from early technology studies and product development through to maintenance of products in the field. We work closely across disciplines and development sites and contribute to PCB technology development and governance.
In this position, you will take technical responsibility for complex PCB designs and work closely with radio, digital, mechanical, thermal and production engineering to turn challenging product requirements into robust, manufacturable solutions. You will work primarily with Cadence Allegro in a multidisciplinary development environment where technical excellence, continuous improvement and knowledge sharing are important parts of everyday work.
What you will do • Take ownership of PCB layout activities from requirements and early floor-planning through design release and product maintenance. • Design complex PCBs using Cadence design tools. • Develop, analyse and optimise board floor plans. • Work closely with electrical, radio, mechanical, thermal design and production engineers. • Balance electrical performance, signal and power integrity, thermal performance and manufacturability throughout the design. • Contribute to design reviews, technical documentation and Product Lifecycle Management activities. • Drive improvements in PCB/PBA design methods and ways of working. • Share PCB knowledge and actively support colleagues. • Contribute to PCB technology studies and development projects.
Skills You will bring
• Experience in PCB layout and design, preferably using Cadence Allegro or comparable professional PCB design tools. • Solid understanding of PCB manufacturing processes and design for manufacturability. • Good understanding of electrical design and telecommunications hardware. • Experience working with complex multilayer PCB designs. • Understanding of signal integrity, power integrity, thermal design and EMC/EMI considerations. • Understanding of product development for volume and mass production. • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. • Ability to independently drive technical work while collaborating effectively with a multidisciplinary team. • Excellent written and spoken English.
