Payroll Accountant

One of Nordic Investin’s partner companies is looking for a Payroll Accountant, with Nordic Investin leading the recruitment process. You know that payroll accounting must be both technically correct and explainable when employees, auditors or finance leaders ask what changed.

The partner needs stronger ownership of payroll accounting, reconciliations and interfaces between HR, payroll providers and the general ledger. You will ensure accurate postings, investigate differences and improve controls across the monthly cycle.

The finance environment values accuracy, traceability and practical improvement. Work should withstand review, make ownership clear and reduce the recurring manual effort or uncertainty that weakens later reporting and decisions.

You will collaborate across entity finance, shared services and business teams while owning defined parts of the financial cycle. The partner expects issues to be investigated to root cause, conclusions to be documented and improvements to remain workable at the next close.

As a specialist, you will own a defined professional area and be trusted to move work forward independently. You are expected to recognise when a question requires wider expertise, explain recommendations clearly and improve the methods or tools used by colleagues around you.

• Reconcile payroll files, accounts and payment information.

• Review payroll postings and allocate costs correctly.

• Investigate differences across HR, payroll and finance systems.

• Prepare accruals, provisions and reporting schedules.

• Maintain payroll accounting controls and documentation.

• Coordinate payroll providers, HR and entity finance teams.

• Experience in payroll accounting or finance with substantial payroll responsibility.

• Strong reconciliation and general ledger knowledge.

• Understanding of payroll related taxes and provisions.

• Ability to handle sensitive information securely.

• Advanced spreadsheet and systems capability.

• Professional English; Swedish payroll knowledge is valuable.

• Multi country or multi entity payroll.

• Outsourced payroll provider governance.

• ERP or payroll system implementation.

Your background may sit in payroll, accounting, finance operations or audit. The partner is looking for someone who can trace a difference across systems, understand the accounting consequence and improve the control rather than relying on manual correction.

You will own an area with high visibility and little tolerance for ambiguity. The role offers cross functional exposure and the opportunity to create a more predictable, well controlled payroll accounting process.

The exact partner, employment model, compensation, start date and working arrangement will be explained openly during the process. Nordic Investin will make sure you understand the context, expectations and decision path before you are asked to commit significant time.

During the process, Nordic Investin will focus on concrete decisions you have made: the context you received, the alternatives you considered, the result you observed and what you would change today. You do not need every optional credential if your core experience transfers and you can explain how you would close the gap.
