Mechanical Commissioning Engineer

Planning & Preparation

The commissioning engineer supports the development of commissioning documentation and ensures systems are prepared for testing and execution.

• Assist in development of commissioning plans, system lists and test packs
• Support definition of system boundaries and testing strategies
• Integrate commissioning activities into project schedule

Execution & Site Activities

The commissioning engineer is responsible for executing commissioning activities on site and ensuring systems are installed and ready for operation.

• Carry out pre-commissioning and commissioning activities
• Perform system checks, start-up activities and inspections
• Execute snagging walks and verify installation readiness

Testing & Validation

The commissioning engineer ensures systems are tested, verified and operate in accordance with project requirements.

• Attend and support FAT and SAT activities
• Perform and record functional testing of systems
• Verify system performance against specifications

Documentation & Test Packs

The commissioning engineer ensures that all commissioning documentation is properly prepared and maintained.

• Prepare and complete test packs and commissioning records
• Ensure documentation is accurate, complete and auditable
• Support readiness for inspections and handover

Tracking & Reporting

The commissioning engineer monitors progress and contributes to reporting on commissioning activities.

• Update commissioning trackers and progress logs
• Track snag closure and testing status
• Report progress to commissioning lead and project team

Coordination & Interfaces

The commissioning engineer works closely with site teams and vendors to ensure commissioning tasks are executed efficiently.

• Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors and controls teams
• Support system tagging, verification and readiness
• Participate in commissioning and technical meetings

Quality & Compliance

The commissioning engineer ensures that systems meet project and regulatory requirements.

• Ensure compliance with design, specifications and procedures
• Support inspections, walkdowns and quality checks
• Assist in preparing systems for final handover

Handover & Close-Out

The commissioning engineer supports final project completion and client handover.

• Assist in O&M manual preparation and completion
• Support client training activities
• Contribute to system handover and final certification
