Om jobbet

A Snapshot of Your Day Join Siemens Energy AB and Linköping University in an exciting four-year industrial PhD project focused on developing advanced lifetime models for thermal barrier coatings (TBC). Imagine conducting cutting-edge research that directly impacts the next generation of high-efficiency gas turbine technologies! You will dive into the critical role of TBCs in enhancing the performance, efficiency, and durability of modern gas turbines. Your work will involve literature studies, planning and evaluating experimental investigations, analyzing material and coating performance data, and developing robust modeling approaches to assess coating lifetime. As a full-time employee of Siemens Energy from day one, you will not only pursue your PhD studies but also lay the foundation for a rewarding career within the company. Your primary work location will be in Finspång, with regular visits to Linköping University, and the flexibility for occasional remote work.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Develop and validate predictive lifetime models for thermal barrier coatings (TBCs) used in gas turbine applications.
  • Plan and evaluate experimental investigations, including material testing, coating characterization, and degradation analysis.
  • Collaborate with Siemens Energy and Linköping University researchers, communicate results, and contribute to scientific publications and technical reports.

What You Bring

  • M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or a related discipline.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate complex material behavior into predictive models.
  • Experience with computational modeling, data analysis, or experimental research is considered an advantage.
  • Proficiency in English, both written and spoken, with the ability to present technical results clearly.
