Function Developer - Powertrain

ALTEN is seeking a Function Developer to join our team in Sweden. You will contribute to either the EATS & Combustion Control team or the Thermal Management and Hydraulics team, depending on your expertise and interest. In this role, you will develop, test, and validate functions in engine control software or thermal energy coordination for hybrid and combustion powertrains. About the role

As a Function Developer, you will play a key role in either:

• EATS & Combustion: Developing and validating software functions for combustion and emission control in hybrid and petrol engines, working closely with calibration teams.
• Thermal Management: Developing and implementing in-house application software for thermal energy coordination across powertrain components, ensuring optimal performance of heating and cooling systems.
• Your work will involve tools like Matlab, Simulink, Embedded Coder, and TargetLink, as well as hands-on testing and validation.

Your main responsibilities

• Develop, test, and validate functions in engine control software or thermal management systems
• Collaborate with calibration teams and stakeholders to define and meet technical requirements
• Work with Matlab, Simulink, Embedded Coder, and TargetLink
• Conduct SIL testing and support practical validation activities
• Ensure functions align with powertrain performance, emission, or thermal targets

Your profile

You are a self-driven and analytical professional with a passion for automotive technology and engine or thermal system development.

• B.Sc./M.Sc. in Mechanical, Physics, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
• Proven experience as an Embedded System Developer or in thermal management for powertrains
• Strong skills in Matlab, Simulink, Embedded Coder, or TargetLink
• Experience with ETAS INCA, Python, or calibration tools is a plus
• Knowledge of internal combustion engines, hybrid powertrains, or thermal systems
• Fluent in English (written and spoken); Swedish is a plus
• Driver’s license (B-level) is required
