Entry level: Mechanical Design Developer

About this opportunity:

We are strengthening our team within Mechanical Design and are looking for next generation creative engineers who will make sure we stay technology leaders in the telecom industry. As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you are a member of a mechanical design team and participate in the design of Ericsson future products, like 5G and 6G radios. We develop an increasing number of products where every generation delivers improved value to our customers, with high demands on quality and robustness in harsh outdoor environments. Our solutions must be cost efficient and deliver top performance with regard to technology density (small and lightweight), usability, quality and sustainability.

In your role you will participate in pre-development activities where we study overall and detailed aspects of technology to come and as well be a member of product development projects aiming at a successful product to offer our customers. Some of your responsibilities will be performed individually, but most of them will be in cross-disciplinary teams both locally and globally. You typically interact with other technical disciplines such as Thermal, Interconnect, Printed Board Assembly, Industrial Design as well as mechanical suppliers/partners and Ericsson’s global production organization.

What you will do:

• Mechanical design, using MCAD tool Creo, of 5G & 6G Telecom Equipment Enclosures (mainly Radio products) with typical components made by aluminum die casting, plastic injection molding and sheet metal
• Deliver designs that are top performing with regards to in-field robustness, cost efficiency, high technology density, electro-mechanical design, usability, modularity, quality and sustainability
• Pre-development work to secure technical leadership with a 2-5 year horizon
• Execution development project work aiming to achieve the best products to our global customers
• Individual tasks as well as interaction in cross disciplinary design teams, both locally + globally and internally + externally

The skills you bring:

• Bachelor or Master´s Degree within Mechanical Design, product development or other relevant field
• Team working skills and eager to share learnings and insights with colleagues
• Good communicator, can express yourself fluently in English both orally and in writing
• Self-driven, with strong ownership of tasks and a proactive approach to finding new solutions
• MCAD tool experience, preferably Creo
• Genuine interest in product development and mechanical engineering, preferably with experience in die casting / injection molding design
• Competence within structural simulations such as static stress/deformation, shock, impact, drop, vibration, preferably within Ansys
• Experience within some of the area’s: structural mechanical simulations, generative AI designs, electro-mechanical design, thermal design, usability (user friendly / easy installation), design for manufacturing/assembly, sustainability in mechanical design
