Embedded Software Test Automation Engineer

Turn software requirements into reliable automated verification for a next-generation embedded platform. You will build Python-based tests, investigate complex software behaviour and help shape the verification methods and frameworks behind a platform that is still taking form.

The role:

As an Embedded Software Test Automation Engineer, you will join a cross-functional R&D team developing a new embedded software platform for future products.

Your focus will be software verification and test automation. You will review requirements, define how functionality should be verified and develop automated tests primarily in Python.

The platform is still evolving, giving you the opportunity to influence how verification is structured, automated and improved. You will also analyze test failures and work closely with developers and test system engineers to identify root causes.

What you’ll be working on:

• Review and challenge software requirements.
• Define verification strategies and test specifications.
• Develop, maintain and execute automated tests in Python.
• Analyze test results and troubleshoot software failures.
• Improve the stability and maintainability of automated tests.
• Create and configure test applications, including C++ when needed.
• Collaborate with software developers and test system engineers.
• Contribute to test frameworks, methods and engineering tools.

What we’re looking for:

• A few years of experience within software testing, verification or test automation.
• Strong programming skills in Python.
• Experience with requirement-driven testing and verification.
• Ability to translate software requirements into test and verification activities.
• Experience analyzing test results and troubleshooting software issues.
• An interest in understanding software behaviour and identifying root causes.
• Experience working in a technical software development environment.
• Professional working proficiency in English.

Experience with embedded systems is highly valuable. It is also beneficial if you have worked with pytest, Git, XML or C++, or have exposure to performance testing, multithreaded or multicore software, functional safety or cybersecurity.

You will join an established R&D environment developing next-generation software platforms for future products. The team is based in Eskilstuna and works cross-functionally across software development, system engineering and verification, with experienced engineers working closely together to solve complex technical challenges.

Employment:

This is a consultancy assignment, which means that you will be employed by Friday and work as a consultant with our client.
