The opportunity
This is a broad business and channel leadership role with influence over the future of an extensive physical retail network. You shape an empowered Business Team, improving performance today while developing the portfolio, customer experience and omnichannel model for the future.
You play a key part in shaping a more customer- and market-led international retail business and helping accelerate Lindex's future growth journey.
About the role
We are looking for an experienced retail leader to shape the future evolution of Lindex's international store network through clustering, concept development, portfolio optimisation and omnichannel integration.
As Business Team Director Retail, you own the store channel and its P&L, combining responsibility for profitable growth, customer experience, productivity, the store portfolio and operational excellence. You develop the physical channel as an integrated part of a multichannel business and balance current performance with long-term decisions on footprint, formats and investment.
You lead an empowered Business Team together with a Digital Co-Lead, combining business ownership, digital development and continuous improvement. The team is accountable for running, optimising and developing its area, balancing short-term performance with long-term growth and capability development.
The Business Team is supported by Business & Process Developers, analytics capabilities and other functional expertise. The role reports to the Chief Commercial Officer and is part of the Commercial Management team.
Key responsibilities
- Own and develop the store channel, with responsibility for P&L, profitable growth, customer value and operational performance.
- Lead the future evolution of the store network through clustering, concept development, portfolio optimisation and omnichannel integration.
- Develop the store portfolio and footprint, including leasing strategy, commercial negotiations, capital investments and investment priorities.
- Evaluate business cases and return on investment for store formats, concepts and portfolio decisions.
- Drive store concepts, physical customer journeys, visual merchandising and future store-format development.
- Improve store productivity, conversion, operating standards and omnichannel operations across a large, geographically distributed network.
- Work with country organisations to combine common direction with local market needs and execution.
- Translate Lindex’s strategy into a clear business plan, priorities, resource allocation and measurable results.
- Lead the Business Team through the Run, Optimise and Develop agenda together with the Digital Co-Lead and supporting functions.
- Connect commercial priorities with digital development, ensuring that investments and roadmaps create clear customer and business value.
- Lead direct reports and functional specialists across reporting lines, developing leaders, capabilities and succession readiness.
- Follow up performance, identify deviations and reprioritise when market conditions or business needs change.
About you
You are a commercially driven retail leader who understands how portfolio decisions, customer experience, store operations and people leadership create profitable performance. You combine strategic perspective with operational depth and can lead large-scale change across functions, countries and reporting lines.
To succeed in the role, you need:
- Extensive senior leadership experience within retail, omnichannel or another customer-facing business.
- Proven results in profitable growth, customer experience and operational excellence across large retail networks.
- Experience from a multi-site retail environment with responsibility for store networks, leasing, portfolio optimisation, concept development and commercial negotiations.
- Strong experience in store-portfolio management, investment decision-making and return-on-investment evaluation.
- Experience leading store-network transformation, portfolio optimisation and future store-format development.
- Demonstrated ability to improve store productivity, commercial performance and customer journeys.
- Experience leading leaders and large, geographically distributed organisations.
- Experience leading large-scale change in complex matrix organisations and working across functions, countries and executive stakeholders.
- Fluent English and strong financial acumen.
- Experience in fashion retail, international store networks, visual merchandising, physical expansion or advanced omnichannel services is advantageous.
