Applied Physicist - ATLAS Muon LS3 Integration and Installation Manager

What you'll do:
As ATLAS Muon LS3 Integration and Installation Manager you will play a key role in the preparation and execution of activities during Long Shutdown 3 (LS3). You will be responsible for ensuring effective coordination across all ATLAS Muon sub-projects. You will closely follow daily work at P1 for Muon upgrade and maintenance projects, monitor progress, and take action to keep Muon activities on schedule. The role requires close collaboration with various ATLAS Muon sub-projects, ATLAS Technical Coordination (TC), and other relevant CERN groups. You will serve as the primary interface between the Muon projects and ATLAS TC, ensuring coherent planning, efficient execution, and comprehensive reporting of all activities.

During Long Shutdown 3 (LS3, 2026-2030), the ATLAS Muon detector will undergo significant upgrades, including the installation of new detector systems and extensive maintenance of existing detector components. As the ATLAS Muon LS3 Integration and Installation Manager, you will play a central role in planning, coordinating, and monitoring these activities.

Your responsibilities:
- Responsible for ensuring effective coordination of installation and integration activities across the Muon projects, tracking progress, identifying risks, and ensuring effective communication among all participating teams.
- Act as the liaison between the various Muon sub-projects and ATLAS TC, providing regular status updates and comprehensive documentation.
- Develop, maintain, and monitor the integrated LS3 schedule for Muon installation, integration, and maintenance activities in close collaboration with ATLAS TC team.
- Coordinate and oversee technical activities on the ATLAS Muon detectors in the UX15 cavern.
- Identify, manage, and resolve interface issues, schedule conflicts, and resource constraints across multiple projects and teams.
- Organise and chair regular ATLAS Muon LS3 coordination meetings, collect status information, and maintain an overview of ongoing and planned activities.
- Support Muon detector teams in coordinating LS3 activities to ensure timely delivery and efficient planning.
- Prepare and maintain comprehensive documentation, progress reports, and activity summaries.

Your profile:
- Proven experience in coordinating activities for large-scale detector systems or comparable complex scientific installations.
- Demonstrated experience in planning and managing work program involving multiple teams and stakeholders.
- Demonstrated experience coordinating complex technical projects, managing competing priorities, and resolving planning, scheduling, and resource constraints in a multidisciplinary environment.
- Experience with safety systems and safety-related technical infrastructure.
- Familiarity with installation, integration, commissioning, or maintenance activities in large scientific facilities is considered an asset.
- PhD or equivalent relevant experience in the field of Physics or a related field.
